Description
This vintage plate is a pretty piece of dinnerware made in Fenton, Staffordshire, England at the Opal China Works by Edward Hughes & Company, a china manufacturer from 1889-1953.Measuring approximately 7 ¾” in diameter, this salad/dessert plate has a bright white background that is decorated with a border of beautiful pink roses and rosebuds and gold trim around the rim.
The E. Hughes & Co. red ink stamp is located on the base.
This printed mark with a globe and a crown above and the words, “Royal China Staffordshire – England”, was a mark used by the company from 1912-1941.
Despite wear to the gold trim, some manufacturing flaws, a few discolorations on the base and scuffs/scratches, this plate is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or any evidence of damage. Note: Stands not included.
